Had a great time playing some Thad Jones charts with the Reykjavik Big Band at Harpa. Listened to promising young big bands from all over Iceland.
Had a great time yesterday at Mulinn Jazzclub at Harpa in Reykjavik. Playing old songs in new arrangements as well as originals written to old poems, something quite diffrent. Faboulus musicians Erla Stefánsdóttir vocals, Ragnhildur Gunnarsdóttir trumpet and Flugelhorn, Ásgeir Ásgeirsson guitar and Szas, Jóhann Hjörleifsson drums, Gunnar Hrafnsson bass and yours truly soprano sax and flute.
We'll be recording soon - Looking foreward to it
Looking foreward to a concert with Vikivaki the improvisational band - Playing our own arrangments of the traditional Icelandic music.
Featuring: Erla Stefánssdóttir vocal, Ásgeir Ásgeirsson guitar and szas Jóhann Hjörleifsson drums, Stefán Stefánsson sax and flute, Gunnar Hrafnsson bass and Ragnhildur Gunnarsdóttir flugelhorn
Múlinn Jazzclub at Harpa Reykjavík - Wednesday 29.april 2015
Good companionship and an enjoable experience. Met a lot of interesting people and realized that jazz is much bigger than I thought it was.
With fellow Icelanders: Sunna Gunnlaugs, Björn Thoroddsen, Kristján Martinsson and Icelandic Music Export manager Sigtryggur Baldursson.
Looking foreward to next year.
